1987 Volkswagen Vanagon

Syncro

First on the list was rust repair and cutting of the fenders to allow for the eventual fitting of larger tires. A color change was performed, refinishing the van to Wolfram Gray Metallic. Front and Rear suspension lift parts from Burley Motorsports replaced all of the original equipment, raising the vehicle while providing a better ride. A Foreign Auto Supply FASTT Gen V. Pump Deuce crate engine was slotted in place, mated to a rebuilt transmission and front differential. Front brakes were upgraded and the rear drums converted to discs to help cope with the added power. Finishing up the exterior, GoWesty plate bumpers were added, the front bumper being modified to accommodate extra lighting, supplementing the already increased light output from the South African lighting conversion with LEDs from Van Cafe.

Attention was now turned to the interior, Before anything went back in, the paneling was covered with sound deadening material to help reduce road noise. Adding weekender jump seats and folding table along with a Z bed greatly improved the function of the van. The headliner was replaced and the A/C ducting painted to match. The seats were recovered with GTI inspired plaid inserts and the carpet replaced with new.
